When you're young you go for the fancy products that promise the world... At a certain age you realise functional is the way to go to better care for your skin. That change for me came with trying the CeraVe SA cleanser and then the day and night moisturisers and then some of the more targeted products and although I don't always understand the naming, I know I am doing good for my skin!
