Is there such a thing as over cleansing? And can you cleanse

Is there such a thing as over cleansing? And can you cleanse wrong? I’m really wanting to get into a good routine and properly look after my skin, but I’m worried in some ways I could do more harm by over-doing it

@Jessica Wet your face with lukewarm water and use your fingertips to apply cleanser. Resist the temptation to scrub your skin because scrubbing irritates the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft towel.
